Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
Psalm 116: 15

Oh, how we will miss her.

GB2

She was born in Corsicana, TX, August 2, 1925, to Dr. Robert Girard Lowe and Gladys Crowder Lowe. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty four years, Benjamin Matthews III. Bee grew up in Memphis, TN and Jackson, MS. She attended Converse College and graduated from Vanderbilt University, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She and Ben raised their family in Huntsville, AL, where she was a member of the Grace Club and the Jr. League. Bee was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening, bridge, needlework, reading and traveling the world. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her greatest passions were her faith and her family, particularly her grandchildren who aptly named her “Sparky Babe”.

She is survived by four children, Lowell Matthews Adams (Kenneth) of Birmingham, AL, Benjamin Matthews IV (Suzanne) of Huntsville, AL, Lucy Matthews Buchanan of Dallas, TX and Luke Robert Matthews of Fairhope, AL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Matthew Houston Adams, Andrew Bidwell Adams, Marjorie Adams Regan, Benjamin Houston Matthews, Nathaniel Lowe Matthews, Sarah Matthews Cagle and Molly Matthews Turner and their spouses. Also surviving her are eleven great-grandchildren who absolutely adored her.

Oh, I am so sorry. I have loved reading your posts about Bee over the years. It sounds like she was a lot of fun and had deep faith in Jesus. One new thing I learned from her obituary is that she is a member of Pi Beta Phi…and so am I, albeit I pledged a few decades after her:) Sending you love Suzanne, or as the Pi Phi’s say it “Pi Phi love and mine.” Maria
